What is AI search optimization, and what is it also called?
AI search optimization is the work of getting a business mentioned and linked when people ask AI tools for a recommendation. You will also see it called generative engine optimization (GEO) or answer engine optimization (AEO). Google’s own guidance treats it as search optimization done well, and says there are no extra technical requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode (Google Search Central).
What we actually do
- Find the questions your customers ask AI tools and search engines, and check which businesses get named today.
- Get you onto the lists, directories and review sites AI answers draw from, with one consistent name, address and description everywhere.
- Write pages that answer those questions directly, so an AI can quote them.
- Make sure search and AI crawlers can reach your site, and submit it to Google and Bing.
- Tune your Google Business Profile for "near me" searches, which run on relevance, distance and prominence.
- Track it: a monthly test of the same buyer questions across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity, and a count of who names you.
Social media SEO and platform ranking
Search does not stop at Google. People look for restaurants, apartments and services inside Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and those platforms rank results using names, captions, on-screen text and engagement. What does not work
Some popular tactics do nothing. Google says an llms.txt file, special "AI schema" and splitting content into chunks are not needed for its AI features, and mass-produced city pages run into its spam policies.
